We were thrilled to be asked by North Shore Rescue (NSR), the highly skilled volunteer search and rescue organisation, to work on their new main operations and emergency response facility in the District of North Vancouver. The site is adjacent to the Cleveland Dam at the bottom of Grouse mountain. The design incorporates and respects the NSR’s logo, including the iconic “Lions Peaks”. The use of natural materials like reclaimed wood siding reflect the beautiful surroundings. The building is simple and cost-effective, with a minimal feel that echoes a “residential” scale and aesthetic. The result is an efficient and functional layout that serves NSR operations.
