western wonder
North Vancouver, BC
This project replaces a single-family home with 18 ground-oriented residences across three low-rise buildings at the north end of Western Avenue in North Vancouver. Just uphill from Lonsdale, the site takes advantage of its elevation where upper units even capture glimpses of downtown and the inlet.
Homes are arranged around a shared central courtyard that enhances light, circulation, and the potential for neighbourly connection. Each unit has its own outdoor space, and two feature rooftop terraces with view potential. The massing steps down to two storeys at the rear to maintain a respectful scale, while setbacks at the front preserve mature trees.
A clear example of Missing Middle housing, this modest, ground-oriented density fits naturally into the neighbourhood and helps address the region’s urgent need for more diverse, attainable housing.
